Welcome to the West Central Florida What is our mission? The Care Council is a planning body (of dedicated volunteers) that assesses needs, plans, allocates resources, and evaluates HIV/AIDS services to improve the lives of those infected and affected. Who are the members? The members of the Care Council come from very diverse backgrounds, some are People Living with HIV (PLWH), some are providers of services from a variety of social services (such as health care, case management, mental health, housing and food) while others are family or friends of PLWH. What does the Care Council do? The Council carefully determines the needs of the HIV community in eight counties (Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk) by conducting a needs assessment (a series of studies including client and provider surveys and focus groups). With the information gathered through the needs assessment, and the input of community members that participate in committee meetings, town halls and other community events, the Council decides how much Ryan White funding goes to each HIV service. The Care Council does not directly provide services, it plans and evaluates them. We serve the following eight counties
Vision Statement We assure a quality, cost-effective, accessible, culturally competent, comprehensive continuum of care for all HIV infected and affected populations. We:
