Description/Purpose/Plan
This committee focuses on health care issues including dental, medications and medical treatment to improve the health of individuals and to improve access to care.

Committee Purpose (bylaw excerpt): This committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Council on issues related to primary care, dental care, medications, new treatments, adherence and other clinical issues related to the maintenance and improvement of health.
Comprehensive Plan Objective 1(A): Each county will have access to a minimum of one HIV-qualified primary care provider.

Review Medicare Part D, Medicaid, VA and other public program policy changes. |
Monitor use and availability of AICP and Health Insurance Services and co-pays. |
Review expenditures and wait list information. |
Monitor the impact of aging with HIV. |
Collect data on number of cases 50 years and over in TSA
Determine local efforts to educate providers about the effects of HIV and aging.
Review other studies/projects dealing with aging and HIV.

Objective 3(B): Evaluate minimum standards of care on an on-going basis and make revisions as needed.

Minimum standards for drug reimbursement, ambulatory/outpatient care, nutritional supplements, oral health, health insurance services will be reviewed annually. |
Comply with Quality Management initiative to make recommendations regarding service definitions for health related services. |
Sample service definitions will be provided for review.
Committee will provide input on final definitions. |
Monitor/recommend policy changes related to health and health-related services. |
Implementation policies will be reviewed as needed. |
